Preface
“Vitak” is the name of a project that I can consider the important reason for doing it as “great interest in learning and working with new materials”, “molding” and “product design” which drew me to it. Very interesting materials that made me think of designing a product along with working with them.

The Materials
I used three materials, in addition to the different modes they have together, they also convey a different feeling. These materials are “Concrete”, “Resin” and “Wood”.

Finding ideas and designing?
To start, I needed an idea, what kind of product to design in which I am going to use these materials. That’s why I finally chose the best product after surfing the internet, and it was the design and manufacture of the watch, a desktop clock.
Ideation and design were done for all the components of a desk clock. The body part of the watch and the hands, etc.
Important features that I had to consider in the design and manufacture of the watch:
- Easy to use
- Minimal and stylish
- The importance of aesthetics
- Correct use of materials together
- Reduction of manufacturing complexities
- …

I designed the body of the selected design with 3D software so that I can see a general design of it, and clock prepare for its construction.
Clock components
The watch is made up of four general parts: Watch engine, Body, Watch face and Hands. Here I will discuss the material of each part and the reason for choosing it.
Watch body: Concrete
- Formable
- Strong and durable
- Dyeable
- Ability to pay
- Available and abundant
Clock hands: Epoxy resin
- Light and strong
- Dyeable
- Formable
- Payable
- And …
Watch face: Wood
- A sense of being natural
- Cutting ability
- Different types
- Light and suitable

The Vitak
You may have been asked what “Vitak” means?
When I was studying about concrete, I met a device called “Vicat”. This device is a laboratory tool that is used to test the setting time of cement.
That’s why I thought it was interesting and I got the name “Vitak” from the name of this device. And I designed a triangular logo for it, which consists of three letters “V”.

On the clock hands, I used luminescent colors to glow in the dark.
